CICO: The Intelligent Time Capture Machine

“The CICO mobile app allows users to stay away from commonly touched surfaces and register their attendance using their smartphones.”

by  Manu Khetan, Founder & CEO, Rolling Arrays

These days, biometric identification has emerged as a standard procedure at work or school to record a person’s attendance. This technology uses physical characteristics like fingerprint, iris, or retina to authenticate an individual. Using biometrics is safer and quicker than entering a password and it doesn’t face the risk of getting lost or forgotten.

Need for a New Way to Capture Time

A physical biometric identification system can be a big infection carrier. A person infected with COVID-19 can spread the virus to the fingerprint scanner while lodging their attendance. People waiting behind in line are then susceptible to contracting the virus. A company with a huge workforce and multiple shifts can end up losing precious work hours during the clocking in and clocking out of employees. Moreover, this enormous amount of data gets passed on slowly to the higher levels, delaying important operational decisions. So, what is the solution?

Smartphones for Biometric Identification

The time has come for implementing newer ways of time capturing, not just for keeping everyone safe but to also make the whole clock in-clock out process more seamless and hassle-free. The CICO mobile app allows users to stay away from commonly touched surfaces and register their attendance using their smartphones. The app makes use of the identification systems already present in a phone to authenticate someone’s presence and availability. A user can utilize the facial or finger recognition feature of their phones and easily clock in or clock out on the go. They can also scan a QR code once inside the premises to avoid standing in a long queue. This personalized method of identification is ‘queueless’ and ‘contactless’, allowing people to stay apart and protected.

Intelligent Alerts and Implementation

CICO provides real-time information about the attendance of an employee or a student and intelligent alerts about the same. This saves time in the relay of information as supervisors receive updates about a clock in or clock out activity instantly. The app also integrates Geo-fencing, which triggers a notification to the operator if an employee or a student has entered/exited from a specific location. This can be used to further authenticate the user data. Geo-fencing is quite easy to set up and the covered perimeter can be dynamically changed as per requirements. The app doesn’t require any integration or hardware installation and can be easily downloaded from the Android or Apple App Store.

Integration with HRIS Software

The app has a dynamic rule engine that can be changed as per requirements and can be easily integrated with your existing HRIS software to provide seamless reports. It also comes pre-integrated with SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central. This enables CICO to be used as a central portal for attendance management, leave and shift data of employees, auto-fill timesheets, or as an audit trail. It is beneficial for employees, their managers, and admins in charge of keeping such records as well.

To conclude, adopting advanced technologies in all aspects of business has become the need of the hour. Businesses need to constantly keep evolving to maintain sustainable economic growth. Luckily, the CICO app transforms a rudimentary common task to make it more time and cost-saving. Its queueless, contactless and sends real-time intelligent alerts for enhanced operational efficiency. Pre-integrated with SAP SuccessFactors, the app can be integrated with any third-party HRIS software as well.
