Agility in HR is becoming a prominent feature in boardrooms in response to unforeseen circumstances; shifting customer and employee expectations and challenging market demands. It’s not as ethereal as it sounds, as there are founding principles, behaviours and processes to help HR teams become more agile.


Moreover, HR leaders and professionals need to embrace a bolder mindset and be more inclusive and comfortable with unorthodox and creative ways of developing & delivering HR services to create value in an uncertain climate.

hrtech.sg, in association with IHRP & SHRM, organised the webinar “Leveraging Technology for HR Agility'' on 20 January 2022 that primarily focused on the need for HR to be Agile and on the changing role of HR. The webinar provided some great perspectives from subject matter experts, who shared their experiences and insights on the need to be Agile.

Adrian Tan, HRTech Subject Matter Expert moderated the session and highlighted that the adoption of HRTechnology in most organisations is around 15-20% as people don’t know how to use the system. This lack of awareness makes it necessary to invest in people rather than technology.

Carmen Wee, Board Member, HTX focused on the importance of technology in the HR Function. According to Carmen, the key imperatives for HR moving forward are:

  • Navigate a challenging environment
  • Focus on the impact of Digitalization
  • An increased focus of ESG as multiple stakeholders are now looking for what an organisation is doing right for the planet and people


Aditi Mahadevan Nair, MD, APAC Head of Talent, Learning & Diversity, Citi shared an HR Practitioner perspective.  The evolution of HR is towards technology & being digital. HR now needs to constantly re-interpret its strategies to become agile. HRTech is a key enabler in nurturing & harnessing agility HRTech enables an organization to become more agile by:

  • Enhancing Collaboration
  • Improve Operational Efficiency
  • Upgrade what we measure




Vikrant Khanna, Director - HR Transformation, Deloitte shared an HR Practitioner perspective  and highlighted the 4A’s HR should focus on to become more agile:

  • Adaptable
  • Agile
  • Architecting
  • Augmented





Benedikt Lell, Vice President - Solutions Consulting, UKG underlined that HRTechnology was the key to making HR more agile as HR systems ensure that employees know the process and execution strategies of the solutions that they need. The success of any HRTechnology project is measured using the following characteristics:

  • Useful
  • Usable
  • Used




The event's takeaway was clear: HR teams need to get involved in creating a new work model that is more agile.
