Technology at the Hybrid Workplace

Here are some excerpts from the discussion with Shruti:

  • 2020 was a year of innovation with massive changes across all sectors. The HR function has also seen a massive innovation in tech and there are a lot of changes that we're seeing across the entire employee lifecycle


  • We have always been using Slack, Google Docs, Darwinbox (HRMS), Greenhouse (Applicant Tracking System) and other multiple HR tools. But newer modules within these products are being used to bring about an increased motivation in the company through employee engagement.


  • With Zilingo, technology has always been in our DNA. We have been a tech firm right from the start; everyone takes to technology super easy. When we went from “working from office” to “remote working”, it was fast and efficient as tools were in place already.


  • Employee Experience Mantra: We need to build a sense of community at the workplace today; we need to make them feel belonging here; and that we are all in this together”.


  • On Mental Health: Since mental health is a key focus area, we’ve opened free counseling sessions to all our employees across the globe. So, anyone who's interested can just sign up for it. And we've got amazing feedback from people. They're beginning to see that the company doesn't necessarily care only about work, and that we also care about their personal health and their well-being. And I think that's what all companies are going to have to do. It's going to become table stakes benefit today.


  • Advise to companies starting on their Digital HR journey: If I'm talking to employers starting out, like startups, I would say adopt HRTech right at the start…You have so many tools available on the market today; you don't need to go for the expensive ones. So, you can go with one of them; and eventually give enough space to evolve into getting a more comprehensive tool as you grow and your use scale…

Based in Singapore since Jan 2012, he has strong exposure to the JAPAC region and has a knowledge of the cultural nuances of the region. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, he has also played leadership roles with NCS (Singtel Group Enterprise) and Nasdaq-listed Cognizant Technology Solutions in Singapore, running large scale talent initiatives across regions.
